Sri M's maternal grandmother had Sufi connections and told him many Sufi stories in his childhood. Between age of five and nine, he was exposed to Hinduism and Christianity. Even at that age, he noticed how prejudiced people belonging to one religion were about other religions. Sri M had a strange liking and urge to go to Himalayas from childhood. At the age of nine, his Guru Sri Maheshwarnath Babaji first met him. The Guru asked Sri M if he remembers anything. Sri M could not recall anything. Guru told him that he will understand it later. After many years, Sri M met the same Guru Sri Maheshwarnath Babaji in Himalayas and remembered their first meeting and the karmic link between the two.

Sri M – spiritual guide, social reformer and educationist – was born into a Muslim family on November 6, 1949 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His transformational journey, from a young boy to a living yogi, is a fascinating story symbolized by single-minded discipline and dedication.

Entranced by mystical stories of Sufi saints and a brief encounter with a numinous Swami at a relatively young age, he was not only drawn to the ‘truth’ but also the compelling landscape of the snow-clad Himalayas. At the age of nine, his spiritual transformation was initiated by his future Master, Babaji (also known as Maheshwarnath Babaji), who miraculously appeared under a jackfruit tree in the compound of his house in Thiruvananthapuram. Though only fleeting, this meeting definitively set the stage for their future reunion in the Himalayas at Sri M’s age of nineteen.

After the fortuitous meeting with Babaji, the next decade saw him go through a dichotomy of experiences -both material and mystical – combining the adventure of his teenage years with the esoteric magnetism of religious texts and the spiritual allure of local holy men and saints. He met Yogi Gopala Saami, Kaladi Mastan, Swami Abhedananda, Chempazhanti Swami, Swami Tapasyananda and Mai Ma during this time. At nineteen, wise beyond his years, he embarked on his journey to the Himalayas, seeking a true Master.

While traveling to Haridwar – the gateway to Badrinath and Kedarnath – his name and appearance evolved to that of a jigyasu (seeker of truth). His journey progressed to Rishikesh, where he lived in the Divine Life Society for couple of weeks. During this interlude, he practiced yoga, attended Upanishad classes, visited nearby ashrams, and interacted with seemingly enlightened holy men in search of his own Master.

He then traveled to Badrinath – a 220 km soul-seeking passage on foot – arriving famished in the town of his destiny. Assuming his search was futile, he gave up hope and was on the verge of giving up his life. About to jump into the Alaknanda River, his fortitude was rewarded by the luminous appearance of his Guru Babaji, who swiftly took him under his spiritual tutelage and initiated him into the Nath tradition.

The next three and half years, he lived and travelled extensively through the Himalayas with his Master. Maheshwarnath Babaji guided him right through his initiation, his Kundalini awakening, the grueling journey to Tholingmutt and, the eventual meeting with the Grand Master, Sri Guru Babaji also known as Sri Mahavatar Babaji.

His Master then encouraged him to return to the plains – to start a family life and prepare for his life’s mission. He was periodically instructed to visit holy places across the subcontinent – Marutwa Malai, Ajmer, Dakshineshwar, Belur Matt, Puri, Benaras, Alandi, Shirdiand Tiruvannamalai – to familiarize himself with diverse spiritual traditions. He met saints from all religions including NeemKaroli Baba and, also interacted with LaxmanJoo and J.Krishnamurti.

Few years after his Master passed away, he received the spiritual go-ahead to commence his mission. In 1998, he started his teachings, eventually leading to formation of the Satsang Foundation.

Traveling extensively unto the present day, he has quietly gone about his life’s mission – teaching and guiding people as per his Master’s instructions: “Quality, not quantity. Spiritual evolution is individual and cannot be a mass phenomenon. No meditation-technique franchises can do much good. Each individual is special. No poster blitz and poster wars when your work starts.”

In response to a query on the spiritual progress of a person and the path to that evolution, he responds, “Though, my parampara is kriya yoga, I don’t think it suits all aspirants. I propound satsang even between two people. It cuts across barriers of caste and creed. Spiritual evolution is not diverse from regular living. Intervals of solitude are necessary but you cannot shut yourself totally. The world around you is your touchstone to spiritual practice.” Conversant with teachings of most major religions, Sri M says: “Go to the core. Theories are of no use.” His message seeks to transcend the outer-shell of all religions, by exploring their mystical core to nurture the innate goodness in every human being.

In 2011, he wrote his memoir “Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master – A Yogi’s Autobiography“, which became an instant bestseller. Over the years, his mission as a spiritual guide, social reformer and educationist have given rise to many initiatives including:

The Satsang Vidyalaya – providing free, high-quality, multi-lingual education to rural children from the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh

Peepal Grove School – a co-educational, residential school committed to providing an environment conducive to the in-depth exploration of knowledge.

Swasthya Kendra – to provide affordable yet qualitative preventive and curative health care to the people through holistic and comprehensive treatments

Manav Ekta Mission - for promoting inter-faith harmony and transcending religious, racial, geographical, cultural and ideological differences

Sarva Dharma Kendra – as a spiritual retreat to facilitate dialogue between religions and to serve as an experiment for mankind realising the essential unity of all religions

Walk of Hope, a 15-month long padayatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, led by Sri M, spanning 6500 kms across 11 states of India in 2015-16 for peace, harmony and tolerance

He is married and has two children. Based in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh (three hours drive from Bangalore), he leads a simple life – teaching and guiding the Satsang Foundation and Manav Ekta Mission. Appreciative of music, he leads the satsangs often with his mellifluous voice. He also writes and paints in his leisure time.

Ronald Henry Nixon (10 May 1898 – 14 November 1965), later known as Krishna Prem or Krishnaprem, was a British spiritual aspirant who went to India in the early 20th century. Together with his spiritual teacher Yashoda Ma, he founded an ashram at Mirtola, near Almora, India. He was one of the first Europeans to pursue orthodox Vaishnavite Hinduism. Remaining a strict Gaudiya Vaishnavite the rest of his life, he was highly regarded, and had many Indian disciples.

Ronald Henry Nixon, more commonly called Ronald Nixon, was born in Cheltenham, England, in and educated in Taunton. His mother was a Christian Scientist and his father was reportedly in the glass and china business.

At age 18, Nixon became a British fighter pilot in the First World War. On one occasion, he experienced an escape from death that he believed was miraculous, in which a "power beyond our ken" saved him from several enemy planes. His experiences of death and destruction during the war filled him with a "sense of futility and meaninglessness".

After the war, Nixon enrolled in King's College, Cambridge, where he studied English literature. During this period Nixon also studied philosophy, and became acquainted with Theosophy, Advaita Vedanta Hinduism, Buddhism, and Pali, and developed an interest in going to India to learn more about the practical aspects of Indian religion.

Life in India

In 1921, while still in England, Nixon accepted the offer of a teaching position at the University of Lucknow, in northern India. As it turned out, the university's vice chancellor, Gyanendra Nath Chakravarti, was also spiritually inclined and interested in Theosophy, and offered Nixon assistance. Over time, Nixon came to regard Gyanendra's wife, Monika Chakravarti, as his spiritual teacher. In 1928, Monika took vows of renunciation in the Gaudiya Vaishnavite tradition, where these vows are called vairagya. She adopted the monastic name of Yashoda Ma. Soon thereafter, she initiated Nixon into vairagya, and he adopted Krishna Prem as his monastic name.

In 1930, Yashoda Ma and Krishna Prem together founded an ashram at Mirtola, near Almora, in mountainous north-central India (state of Uttarakhand). The ashram "began and has continued to be" aligned with strict orthodox Vaishnavism. In 1944, Yashoda Ma died and Krishna Prem succeeded her as head of the ashram. He travelled little, but in 1948 he visited South India, meeting Sri Ramana Maharshi, as well as Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa ("The Mother"). Sardella states that Nixon appears to have been "the first European to embrace Vaishnavism in India". Haberman states that Nixon "was perhaps the first Westerner to tread the path of Krishna-bhakti, and was certainly the first to have any official affiliation with the Gaudiya Vaishnavism of Braj."

Krishna Prem, despite his English origins, became widely accepted and admired in the Indian Hindu community. Brooks wrote that "Krishna Prem's evident intellectual and inspirational qualities gained him wide fame and many disciples in India, as reflected in numerous books on his life and teachings." Gertrude Emerson Sen wrote that "I know of no other person like Krishnaprem, himself 'foreign' to begin with, who has drawn so many Indians to himself". His biographer Dilip Kumar Roy wrote that Krishnaprem "had given a filip [stimulus] to my spiritual aspiration".

Haberman wrote that Krishna Prem "was recognized as a Hindu saint by many Indians of his day."When Nixon died in 1965, he was hailed by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, then president of India, as a "great soul". Nixon's final words were "my ship is sailing".

Meditation is helpful for the body, it stills anxiety, and is generally beneficial. This is scientifically proven. So there are many reasons to meditate. There is no doubt that it can help stress, depression, and anxiety. It is helpful for the emotional problems of daily life, when things go wrong It opens the heart and makes you more aware. And when awareness rises, so does wisdom, and the wisdom that rises from meditation is very powerful.

Everyone can meditate, no matter who they are. You should commit to daily meditation, no matter for how long. Until you sit down on a cushion or on a chair, meditation won't start. The most important point is to take a comfortable seat. If you practice meditation every day for fifteen or twenty minutes, after a while when you look back, there will be no doubt of its effectiveness.

Why is awareness so important? Because it is the nature of wisdom. You may meditate because you want peace. All sorts of expectations can arise in your mind. It is possible that you may experience peace, but most of the time you will not? Why? It's not a problem with the meditator. At the beginning there may be a sense of calm and peace. But after a while your mind will seem even worse than before. Even though your mind may seem worse, actually it is better.

So you must keep the continuity of a practice, like a river. Regardless of whether your mind seems better or worse than before, you should continue practice, and you will improve. It's like washing your clothes or dishes. If you wash them regularly, it won't be difficult. But if you don't it will be difficult to clean them. When I was in retreat, I would wear the same clothes for a month. When I returned, I had to soak them in hot water for six or seven hours before I started to wash them. Even then I had to wash them several times.

The reason why your mind seems worse after meditating for a while is that your emotional problems are coming to the surface. It's important to let what needs to come out, come out. Try not to judge your thoughts. And do not chase after them or hold onto them. If you follow this instruction, meditation becomes very easy. When these emotions come up, hold on strongly to your mental focus. If your mind is calm, your focus can be more relaxed. All meditators experience emotional upset and crying when they practice. Let this be and afterwards there will be peace.

Breathing is the most important form of meditation practice. The breath is connected with the subtle winds, and this is connected with the heart mind. When your mind is restless, focus on the navel chakra. When your mind is sleepy, focus on the third eye. But don't forget to follow your breath.

If you keep focus on breath, in and out, naturally you will become calm. You will feel joyful and light. As you continue meditate, that feeling will stabilize. Then a feeling of love and compassion will arise. Inner peace starts from there. Why does that happen? All the emotional upset has come out, so the mind is calmed.

A gong has the potential to make a sound, but until it is struck, no sound will be heard. The striker is the cause of the sound. Similarly, we all have the potential to experience inner peace. But until the teacher explains how to practice, it will not be realized. The fundamental enlightenment is in everyone equally. We wash clothes because they have the potential to become clean. Otherwise, we would throw them away. Similarly, we meditate because we have to ability to realize our fundamental potential. This potential is there, but it is normally obscured. It is important not to push too hard. If meditation becomes difficult, get up and do something else. But practice again tomorrow, don't give up. Eventually your mind will become clear, like an empty blue sky. It is possible for the mind to be free of thoughts. But even then, there is further to go. An impartial love even for our enemies will arise. It is not easy to get to that level, but it is possible to experience that equal love for all.
They go on for years performing inefficiently and excusing themselves by saying, “I had no time to practice or to find a good teacher, and anyway, I am not a genius.” They fail to realize that extraordinary talent is not as necessary as unswerving purpose and unfailing effort.

The key to happiness, power, and health lies within your mind. Mental laziness and lack of initiative and perseverance are the greatest enemies of success in any field of activity. A mentally lazy person grunts and moans, and considers it a terrible expenditure of energy if he must take time to think, plan, or create. He is unwilling to initiate creative or self-emancipating thinking. We can understand physical idleness, when it is sometimes necessary for relaxation from overwork, but we cannot excuse the mentally lazy person.

I’ve often said: the whole universe is sitting on a little piece of God’s thought. Everything in the universe is the result of thought. God’s mind underlies and guides every aspect of creation. The image of God within you includes that same potential of unlimited mental power, but you must learn to develop that power by making greater use of your mind. Most of your troubles in life can be traced to the failure to develop the power of your mind.

Refuse to harbor the consciousness of defeat

To pass life’s tests, you will need to develop elasticity of the mind. Tests are not meant to crush you. They come through the natural law of progress, to help you develop your mental powers, and to advance from lower to higher levels of willingness, effort, and creativity. Most people give up and fail, but in order to succeed you must learn to persevere in your effort toward your goal.

If you are suffering materially, do not add more injury to yourself by mentally accepting defeat. Even if you have no job, for your own good, you have no right to be depressed. If you sit in your home moaning and sobbing, you are paralyzing your mind with sorrow instead of keeping it busy with the kind of creative thinking which alone can show you a way out of your difficulties.

I can forgive the physically lazy man if his body is weak or if it needs rest, but I cannot so easily forgive the mentally lazy man, for he is too lazy to think. Do you need a job? Instead of sobbing and complaining, you must keep your mind busy with continuous thinking as to how you can secure work for yourself. Always remember: you are stronger than your tests.

Never allow your mind to entertain human thoughts of limitation and you will see your life change for the better. If you allow such thoughts to take hold you have already lost half the battle. Throw all such thoughts out of your mind and affirm with deep conviction that whatever has been done, and is currently posing challenges in your life, can be undone. Every new effort after a failure must be well planned and charged with increasing intensity of attention.

Remember, if you make up your mind that you are going to control your circumstances, your circumstances will adjust themselves accordingly. Friendly success tendencies are ready to help you, depending on your unflinching efforts. These are your invisible friends. Rouse your will by repeated judicious efforts, and ultimately you are certain to awaken the success tendencies sleeping in the dark chamber of your subconsciousness.

Depend more on mind and will power

You must believe more in the power of the mind and will. The more you depend on mind and will power, the more they will do for you. Will is concentrated mental energy directed toward a goal. There is no more effective force than energy applied by will power. This will power lies buried in you and if you use it, there is nothing you cannot accomplish.

How can you develop it? Before you do anything, think carefully about what you should do. Make sure you are using your will to accomplish something good and helpful to you. Will derives its strength from an honest purpose, lofty motives, and noble solicitude to do good in the world at large.

Take up one little thing you think you cannot do. Try with all your might to accomplish that one thing. Then, when you have accomplished that, go on to something bigger. If your difficulty is great, pray, “Lord, give me the power to conquer all my difficulties.” Most people give up and fail. Not to give up is to develop will power, and to win in everything you undertake. The successful person may have had more difficulties than the one who has failed, but he doesn’t mention them. He rejects the thought of failure at all times. To succeed you must learn to persevere in your effort toward your goal.

Everything you see in this world is the result of will power, but it is not always used consciously. A strong will, by its own dynamic force, creates a way for its fulfillment. By its very strength, the will sets in motion certain vibrations in the atmosphere, and Nature, with its laws of order, system, and efficiency, thereupon creates circumstances favorable to the individual who exercises that kind of will power.

Your will must be guided by wisdom

When Jesus said, “Let Thy will be done,” what did he mean? Many people misinterpret the real meaning of Jesus’ statement and preach a dangerous doctrine of not using the will.

Jesus meant that when you attune your will with God’s will, which is guided by wisdom, you are then using divine will. But you can not know what divine will is until you have developed your own will to its fullest potential. Only by using your own will power rightly can you contact God’s will. By deep concentration and receptivity in meditation, you can establish that divine contact.

The power of a strong will, guided by divine wisdom, is unlimited. To its possessor nothing is impossible. The will is the weapon by which you can vanquish all failure. You must, however, make constant use of it; then it will serve you faithfully and always be sharp and keen edged. Do not will and act first, but contact God first and harness your will and activity to the right goal.

Ways to vitalize and nourish your mind

You must not lead a stagnant existence. Vitalize and nourish your mind by contact with strong spiritually progressive minds. Begin from today to try to do, one at a time, the things you thought impossible for you to do. Systematize your life and schedule your engagements.

Every morning, make up your mind that you are going to be better. Analyze yourself and find out whether you have been progressing or not. In life there is no standing still; you are either going forward or backwards. Every day spur yourself on to greater achievements.

Unless you are meditating, keep your mind busy during most of your leisure time with good books. Read, mark, and inwardly digest selected passages from great books. Do not read half-heartedly or with only partial attention. You should never read without assimilation; if you can assimilate, you will know much with little reading. When thinking, keep your eyes closed and your mind wholly concentrated on the object of your study. Thinking logically over a given idea is the best way to develop originality in your ideas.

Perform all activities with full concentration. Some people assume that an activity must be done slowly; otherwise they will become restless. That is not so. With calmness and intense concentration, you can perform all actions very quickly. The art of true action is to be able to act quickly or slowly, depending on circumstances, without losing your inner peace.

Every night try to remember in detail all that happened during the day. Just before going to sleep and upon awakening, command your subconscious mind to be attentive to all life’s activities and to retain all valuable experiences. These two periods are the best for impressing affirmations on the mind.

“What can I do for God today?”

God has given you the power to control your mind and to be free from pain and sorrow. Laziness in body and mind must be driven away before you can enter the kingdom of God. It is better to be a success in the eyes of the world than to be a lazy, but you will never attain true happiness unless you combine worldly success with spiritual success through daily inner communion with the Lord.

Consciousness of spiritual and moral duty should reign predominantly in your mind, above all other duties. Don’t be so busy that you find no time for meditation and spiritual service. Experience the superior joys of the inner life, and you will prefer them to the fleeting pleasures of the outer world.
The Latin word for "Breath" is spiritus.
Kriya Yoga is a scientific art of perfect God Truth union and Self-Realization. It was revived by a great Master of India, Babaji Nagaraj, as a synthesis of ancient teachings of the 18 Siddha tradition.

Babaji's Kriya Yoga is a spiritual tradition, wherein one “wakes up” from “dreaming with one’s eyes open.”. Babaji's Kriya Yoga is a path of Self-realization which is comprehensive, as it integrates all of the dimensions of our life. It is a path of self discipline which enables one to live in the world with open-hearted compassion.

This tradition flows directly from the Yoga Siddhas, the perfected masters of Siva Yoga. Kriya Babaji Nagaraj synthesized his Kriya Yoga from techniques taught by the Siddhas, Agastyar and Boganathar. Babaji initiated a great yogi, S.A.A. Ramaiah into these techniques in 1954 and 1955, near Badrinath in the Himalayas.

The first objective of Kriya Hatha Yoga is deep physical and mental relaxation. The body can become purified of many disorders and irregularities by asana. The variety of asana grants flexibility, lightness and buoyancy in the body. The practice of the 18 asana series awakens the energy centers along the spine and kundalini, our potential power and consciousness.

Through the practice of Babaji's Kriya Yoga , one begins to study oneself and to let go of negative habits, desires, fears and other forms of disturbances. One gradually establishes oneself in a new inner Witness perspective, full of peace and joy. As one lets go of the old egoistic perspective, one’s personality is transformed, and one begins to experience oneself as an instrument of love and as a superior creative intelligence, engaged in bringing joy to others and making the world a better place.

The Origin of Kriya Yoga

In 1983, Yogi Ramaiah gave to Marshall Govindan a set of stringent conditions to fulfill as a condition to teach the 144 Kriyas or techniques of Babaji’s Kriya Yoga. Marshall. Govindan had, by 1983, already been practicing Kriya Yoga for more than twelve years, for at least fifty-six hours per week without a break. In addition, in 1981 he had completed a year long silence in retreat, alone, by the seashore in Sri Lanka, engaging in a non-stop practice of Yoga, known as tapas. He told Marshall Govindan that if he fulfilled these conditions he would be authorized to initiate others into the 144 kriyas of Babaji’s Kriya Yoga. It took Govindan three more years to fulfill all of the additional conditions. At that time Yogiar told him simply to wait. Yogiar had often said that once he had brought his students to the feet of the “Guru,” his work with them would be finished. On Christmas Eve, 1988, in a series of profound spiritual experiences, the message came that Govindan was to leave his teacher's ashram and organization and begin initiating others into Kriya Yoga.

Henceforward, Marshall Govindan's life was directed by the Light of the Guru, (with continuing guidance, inspiration and intuition and insight), which focused on “showing the path to others.” Beginning in 1989, his life moved in this new direction; doors opened automatically, and everything facilitated a new mission. Govindan began to share Kriya Yoga with others, first, on weekends, in Montreal, and then in 1991, after the publication of his first book on Kriya Yoga, to persons all over the world. It has been a joy for him ever since to personally share this “light,” this precious spiritual scientific art with more than 10,000 students in more than twenty countries, and to train over sixteen advanced students to do the same.

Kriya Yoga is “Action with Awareness.” It is a means of self-knowledge, of knowing the truth of our being. Babaji's Kriya Yoga incorporates “awareness” in the practice of asanas, pranayama, meditation, mantras, but also teaches us to incorporate awareness in all thoughts, words, dreams and desires, in all actions. This sadhana has the enormous potential to make us more conscious human beings. It requires, however, the willingness of the body, mind, heart and will, to align with the soul’s aspiration for purification and perfection. The sadhana of BKY is a collection of 144 exercises and spiritual practices for Self realization and transformation in all of our five bodies: physical, vital, mental, intellectual and spiritual.
Through intense meditation practices and indepth study of Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta, and Shaiva philosophies, He attained the ultimate state of consciousness, the State of Nithyananda (Eternal Bliss).

EARLY YEARS

Nithyananda born in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India as a second child of Arunachalam and Lokanayaki . According to Nithyananda, he was very spiritual at a very young age. He enjoyed playing with idols and visiting temples.Young Nithyananda met many spiritual mentors who contributed to his spiritual developments.

Nithyananda recounted about his experience with one of his spiritual mentors (Raghupati Yogi):

"Between the ages of three and thirteen , when I was with him, he prepared my body, he prepared the mind to enter into the experience of enlightenment and to stay in the experience of enlightenment . Entering also is not a big thing; to have a glimpse of satori- the no -mind state, to have one experience of un-clutching from the mind is not a big thing; it's not very difficult, but to stay in that, not only to stay in that, but to express that energy in through your body, for that, your body and mind need to be prepared. He focused on that part and helped me in so many ways to understand and experience, and above all, to stay in that same space; to stay in that high energy plane and radiate that experience."

ORGANIZATION
In the year 2000, Nithyananda founded a meditation ashram in Bidadi, India. It is the headquarter for his social activities around the world. [7] In 2003 he established the Life Bliss Foundation in Los Angeles, USA. It is the headquarter in the West. Life Bliss Foundation teaches meditation programs that aim to create an inner transformation in the individuals. Nithyananda conducts programs in various locations around the world.
What do you mean by awareness?
Jiddu Krishnamurti : Sir, this is a very complex question, but I shall try to describe what it is to be aware, if you will kindly listen and patiently follow it step by step, right through to the end. To listen is not just to follow what I am describing but actually to experience what is being described, which means watching the operation of your own mind as I describe it. If you merely follow what is being described, then you are not aware, observant, watchful of your own mind. Merely to follow a description is like reading a guidebook while the scenery goes by unobserved; but if you watch your own mind while listening, then the description will have significance, and you will find out for yourself what it means to be aware.

What do we mean by awareness? Let us begin at the simplest level. You are aware of the noise that is going on; you are aware of the cars, the birds, the trees, the electric lights, the people sitting around you, the still sky, the breathless air. Of all that you are aware, are you not? Now, when you hear a noise or a song, or see a cart being pushed, and so on, what is heard or observed is translated, judged by the mind; that is what you are doing, is it not?

Please follow this slowly. Each experience, each response, is interpreted according to your background, according to your memory. If there were a noise which you were hearing for the first time, you would not know what it was; but you have heard the noise a dozen times before, so your mind immediately translates it, which is the process of what we call thinking. Your reaction to a particular noise is the thought of a cart being pushed, which is one form of awareness.

You are aware of color, you are aware of different faces, different attitudes, expressions, prejudices, and so on. And if you are at all alert, you are also aware of how you respond to these things, not only superficially, but deeply. You have certain values, ideals, motives, urges, on different levels of your being; and to be conscious of all that is part of awareness. You judge what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong; you condemn, evaluate, according to your background, that is, according to your education and the culture in which you have been brought up. To see all this is part of awareness, is it not?

Now, let us go a little further. What happens when you are aware that you are greedy, violent, or envious? Let us take envy and stick to that one thing. Are you aware that you are envious? Please go with me step by step, and bear in mind that you are not following a formula. If you make it into a formula, you will have lost the significance of the whole thing. I am unfolding the process of awareness, but if you merely learn by heart what has been described, you will be exactly where you are now. Whereas, if you begin to see your conditioning, which is to be aware of the operation of your own mind as I go on explaining, then you will come to the point where an actual transformation is possible.

So you are aware, not only of outward things and your interpretation of them, but you have also begun to be aware of your envy. Now, what happens when you are aware of envy in yourself? You condemn it, don't you? You say that it is wrong, that you must not be envious, that you must be loving, which is the ideal. The fact is that you are envious, while the ideal is what you should be. In pursuing the ideal, you have created a duality, so there is a constant conflict, and in that conflict you are caught.

Are you aware, as I am describing this process, that there is only one thing, which is the fact that you are envious? The other, the ideal, is nonsense; it is not an actuality. And it is very difficult for the mind to be free of the ideal, to be free of the opposite, because traditionally, through centuries of a particular culture, we have been taught to accept the hero, the example, the ideal of the perfect man, and to struggle towards it. That is what we have been trained to do. We want to change envy into nonenvy, but we have never found out how to change it, and so we are caught in everlasting strife.

Now, when the mind is aware that it is envious, that very word envious is condemnatory. Are you following, sirs? The very naming of that feeling is condemnatory, but the mind cannot think except in words. That is, a feeling arises with which a certain word is identified, so the feeling is never independent of the word. The moment there is a feeling like envy, there is naming, so you are always approaching a new feeling with an old idea, an accumulated tradition. The feeling is always new, and it is always translated in terms of the old.

Now, can the mind not name a feeling like envy but come to it afresh, anew? The very naming of that feeling is to make it old, to capture it and put it into the old framework. And can the mind not name a feeling - that is, not translate it by calling it a name, and thereby either condemning or accepting it - but merely observe the feeling as a fact?

Sir, experiment with yourself, and you will see how difficult it is for the mind not to verbalize, not to give a name to a fact. That is, when one has a certain feeling, can that feeling be left unnamed and be looked at purely as a fact? If you can have a feeling and really pursue it to the end without naming it, then you will find that something very strange happens to you. At present the mind approaches a fact with an opinion, with evaluation, with judgment, with denial or acceptance. That is what you are doing.

There is a feeling, which is a fact, and the mind approaches that fact with a term, with an opinion, with judgment, with a condemnatory attitude, which are dead things. Do you understand? They are dead things, they have no value, they are only memory operating on the fact.

The mind approaches the fact with a dead memory; therefore, the fact cannot operate on the mind. But if the mind merely observes the fact without evaluation, without judgment, condemnation, acceptance, or identification, then you will find that the fact itself has an extraordinary vitality because it is new. What is new can dispel the old; therefore, there is no struggle not to be envious - there is the total cessation of envy. It is the fact that has vigor, vitality, not your judgments and opinions about the fact; and to think the thing right through, from the beginning to the end, is the whole process of awareness.
Brother Wayne Teasdale has died after a long battle with cancer. A service will be held Saturday, October 23, at 9:30 am at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bede Griffiths Association (For Wayne Teasdale Grant), C/O John Douglas, Treasurer, Bede Griffiths Association, P.O. Box 851521, Richardson, TX 75085-1521.

Although Brother Wayne is no longer with us physically, his wisdom and the interspirituality movement that he inspired live on and grow daily. Dr. William ("Bill") Hayashi, a professor at Columbia College (Chicago) and multi-traditional practitioner, is a long time friend and associate of Brother Wayne. He offers us this story for inspiration and reflection:

"The most powerful memory I have of Brother Wayne was after a meditation/prayer session with him in the hospital. He shared with me that he had had a vision: He was a Buddhist monk living in a mountain monestery. He had gone too close to the cliff and had fallen over. At first he was very frightened, but then he relaxed and realized that it would be all right. He told me he was fine when he reached bottom."

Brother Wayne Teasdale was a lay monk who combined the traditions of Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism in the way of the Christian sannyasa. A teacher and activist in building common ground among the world's religions, he served on the board of trustees of the Parliament of the World's Religions. As a member of the Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, he helped draft their Universal Declaration of Nonviolence. He was also committed to the cause of a free Tibet.

Teasdale was an adjunct professor at DePaul University, Columbia College, and the Catholic Theological Union, and co-ordinator of the Bede Griffiths Trust. He held an M.A. in philosophy from St. Joseph University and a Ph. D. in theology from Fordham University. He lived at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
We shall come upon something that is beyond reason; for reason has not solved any of our political, economic or social problems; nor has it solved the intimate human problems between two people. It becomes more and more obvious that we live in a world that is going to pieces, that has become quite insane, quite disorderly and a dangerous place to live in. Up to a point we must reason together, logically, sanely, holistically; then, perhaps, beyond that point, we shall be able to find a different state, a different quality of mind, not bound by any dogma, by any belief, by any experience and therefore a mind that is free to observe and through that observation see exactly "what is" and also find that there is energy to transform it.

One must not start from any conclusion, from any belief, from any dogma which conditions the mind, but from a mind that is free to observe, to learn, to move and act. Such a mind is a compassionate mind for compassion has no cause; it is not a result. Compassion comes when the mind is free and it brings about a fundamental psychological revolution. That psychological revolution is what we are concerned with from the beginning to the end.

So we will begin by asking ourselves: What is it that we are seeking? Physical comfort? Physical security? Deep down, is there the demand or desire to be totally secure in all our activities; in all our relationships to be stable, certain, permanent? We cling to experience that gives us a certain quality of stability, or to a certain identification which gives us a sense of permanency, well-being. In a belief there is security; in identification with a particular dogma, political or religious, there is security. If we are aged, we find security or happiness in the remembrance of things past, in the experiences that we have known, in the love that we have had, and we cling to the past. And if we are young and cheerful we are satisfied for the moment, not thinking about the future or the past. But gradually youth slips into old age with the desire to be secure, with the anxiety of uncertainty, of not being able to depend on anything or anybody, yet desiring deeply to have something secure to cling to.

We have to examine closely whether there is psychological security at all. And if there is no psychological security will a human being go insane; will he become totally neurotic, because he has no security? Probably the majority of human beings are somewhat neurotic. A Communist, a Catholic, Protestant or Hindu, each is secure in his belief; he has no fear because he clings to it. And when you begin to investigate, or question, or reason with him he stops at a certain point and will not examine further, it is too dangerous, he feels his security is being threatened; then communication ceases. He may reason, think logically up to a certain point but is incapable of breaking through to a different dimension altogether; he is stuck in a groove and will not investigate anything else. Does that really give security? Does thought, which has created all these beliefs, dogmas, experiences, divisions, give security? We function with thought; all our activity is based on thought, horizontal or vertical; whether you are aspiring to great heights it is the movement of thought vertically; or whether you are merely satisfied to bring about a social revolution and so on it is the horizontal movement of thought. So does thought fundamentally, basically, give security, psychologically? Thought has its place; but when thought assumes that it can bring about psychological security then it is living in illusion. Thought wanting ultimate security has created a thing called god; and humanity clings to that idea. Thought can create every kind of romantic illusion. And when the mind, psychologically, seeks security in the dogma of the Church, or some other dogmatic assertion, or whatever it is, it is seeking security in the structure of thought.

Thought is the response of experience and knowledge, stored up in the brain as memory; that response is therefore always moving from the past. Now, is there security in the past? Please use your reason, logic, all your energy to find out. Can any activity of thought, which is essentially of the past, give security? Follow the sequence of it; in that which it has created it seeks security and that security is of the past. Thought, though it may project the future, says: "I am going to attain godhood", yet that movement of thought is essentially from the past. Or, recognizing there is no security in the past, thought then projects an idea, an idealistic state of mind and finds security in the hope of that in the future.

A human being, throughout life, depends on thought and the things that thought has put together as being most essential, holiness, unholiness, morality, immorality and so on. Someone comes along and says: "Now look, all that is the movement of the past." Having reasoned with him, logically, the other says: "Why not, what is wrong with holding on to thought even though it is of the past"? He acknowledges it, and says: "I'll hold to it, what is wrong?" Yet when the human mind lives in the past and when it holds to the past, then it is incapable of living, or perceiving truth.

We come to a certain point and we say: "Yes, I see and I recognize logically, that in those things there is no security and when they are questioned there is fear." And when we say we see that, what do we mean by that word "see"? Is it merely a logical understanding, a verbal understanding, a linear understanding, or is it an understanding which is so profound that that very understanding breaks down, without any effort, the whole movement of thought? When you say: "I understand what you are saying", what do you mean by that word "understand"? Do you mean you understand the English words? Is it an understanding of the words, the meaning of the words, the explanation of the words and therefore an understanding only at a very superficial level? Or, is it that, when you say "I understand", you mean you actually "see", or observe the truth as to what thought is; you actually feel, taste, observe in your blood as it were, that thought, whatever it creates, has no security? You "see" the truth of it and therefore you are free of it. Seeing the truth of it is intelligence. Such intelligence is not reason, logic, or the very careful dialectical explanation; the latter is merely the exposition of thought in various forms; and thought is never intelligent. The perception of the truth is intelligence; and in that intelligence there is complete security. That intelligence is not yours or mine; that intelligence is not conditioned - we have finished with all that. We have seen that thought in its very movement creates conditioning and when you understand that movement, that very understanding is intelligence. In that intelligence there is security, from that there is action.

We may talk about this question in different ways, in different fields, such as fear, pleasure, sorrow, death, meditation, but the essence of it is this: thought is the movement from the past, therefore of time and therefore measurable. That which is measurable can never find the immeasurable, which is truth. That can only take place when the mind actually sees the truth that whatever thought has created, in that there is no security; the very observation of that is intelligence. When there is that intelligence then it is all finished. Then you are out of this world, though you are living in it; though trying to do something in it, you are completely an outsider.

Are we always functioning through the ego or are there moments when we are free of it?…..Man has no center separate from the center of the whole. There is only one center in existence; the ancients used to call it Tao, dhamma, god. Those words have become old now; you can call it truth. There is only one center of existence. There are not many centers, otherwise the universe would not be really a universe, it would become a multiverse. It is a unity, hence it is called the “universe”; it has only one center.

To survive, and to struggle for survival in the fight of life, everybody needs a certain idea of who they are. And nobody has any idea. In fact nobody can ever have any idea, because at the deepest core you are a mystery. You can’t have any idea of it. At the deepest core you are not individual, you are universal.

That’s why if you ask the Buddha, “Who are you?” he remains silent, he does not answer it. He cannot, because now he is no more separate. He is the whole. But in ordinary life even Buddha has to use the word ‘I’. If he feels thirsty he has to say, “I am thirsty. Ananda, bring me a little water, I am thirsty.

For example, you have a name. That is a fiction. You came without a name, you did not bring a name with you, the name was given to you. Then by constant repetition you start becoming identified with it. You know your name is Rama or Rahim or Krishna. It goes so deep that if all you three thousand sannyasins fall asleep here and somebody comes and calls, “Rama, where are you?” nobody will hear except Rama. Rama will say, “Who has come to disturb my sleep?” Even in sleep he knows his name; it has reached to the unconscious, it has seeped through and through. But it is a fiction.

But when I say it is a fiction I don’t mean it is unnecessary. It is necessary fiction, it is useful; otherwise how are you going to address people? It will be difficult if nobody has a name. Although nobody has a name in reality, still, it is a beautiful fiction, helpful. Names are needed for others to call you, ‘I’ is needed for you to call yourself, but it is just a fiction. If you go deep into yourself you will find the name has disappeared, the idea of ‘I’ has disappeared; there is left only a pure am-ness, is-ness, existence, being.

And that being is not separate, it is not yours and mine; that being is the being of all. Rocks, rivers, mountains, trees, all are included. It is all-inclusive, it excludes nothing. The whole past, the whole future, this immense universe, everything is included in it. The deeper you go into yourself, the more and more you will find that persons don’t exist, that individuals don’t exist. Then what exists is a pure universalness. On the circumference we have names, egos, identities. When we jump from the circumference towards the center, all those identities disappear.

The ego is just a useful fiction.

Use it, but don’t be deceived by it.
He is unusual in that he is spiritually significant to Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims alike. Kabir openly criticized all sects and gave a new direction to the Indian philosophy. Kabir touches the soul, the conscience, the sense of awareness and the vitality of existence in a manner that is unequalled in both simplicity and style.

It is for this reason that Kabir is held in high esteem all over the world. Another beauty of Kabir's poetry is that he picks up situations that surround our daily lives. Thus, even today, Kabir's poetry is relevant and helpful in both social and spiritual context. Following Kabir means understanding one's inner self, realizing oneself, accepting oneself as is, and becoming harmonious with one's surroundings.

Sant Kabir -1398-1518
Sant Kabir is considered to be one of the greatest poets as well as mystics ever born in India. He believed that human beings are equal and being one with God is the ultimate aim of every individual. His love and devotion towards the Supreme One clearly reflects in his poetry. The Holy Guru Granth Sahib contains over 500 verses by the great saint, Kabir. The verses or dohas of Guru Kabir are still read by people with awe and admiration. Read on to explore the biography of Sant Kabir further.

Early Life
As per the life history of Saint Kabir, he was born in 1398 AD. It is said that he was found floating on a lotus leaf in a tank in Benaras by a Muslim weaver. The weaver took the vulnerable child under his care and following the traditional manner, gave him the name of 'Kabir', meaning 'the great one'. Even at a young age, Kabir displayed enormous spiritual talent.

Meeting his Guru
Kabir always wanted to become a disciple of Ramanand. However, since he was a Muslim, it was next to impossible for him to get initiation from a Hindu. So, he took recourse to a trick. Ramanand daily went to the bathing ghat for his pre-dawn ritual ablutions. Kabir lay on the steps of the ghat in such a way that Ramanand stepped on him. Shocked at this incident, he chanted 'Rama! Rama!'. Kabir said that since he had received teachings from him, in the form of the words 'Rama! Rama!', he was Ramanand's disciple. Impressed with the intelligence of Kabir, Ramanand took him as his disciple.

The Philosophy of Sant Kabir
Sant Kabir believed in the Vedantic concepts of atman. He always advocated the Impersonal Aspect of God (Nirguna) and therefore, was against idol worship. As per his view, all human beings are equal and the societal caste system that is so widely prevalent in our country is fallacious. He said that true guru is the one who can be attained through direct experience. The common ways of realizing God, like chanting, austerities, etc, are worthless.

Kabir Teachings
Kabir was a man of God, a lover of the Lord. Having attained the highest form of spiritual experience, which is God-realization, he was fully competent to guide others on the path. Spirituality was a way of life for him. Kabir’s main concern was that whatever he did it was to seek Divine Grace. The aim of saints is this merging of soul with the Lord, absorption of the lover into the beloved or the flame into the Flame.

Kabir longing for the Lord was the longing of a lover for her Beloved. Kabir has described himself as the ‘bride of the Lord’, ‘the wife of Ram’. He addressed the Lord with many names like, Ram, Krishna, Govind, Madhav, Murari, Keshav, Viththal, Sarangapani, Madhusudan, Jagannath, Allah, Karim, Khuda, Rabb, Rahman, Rahim, Sahib but he used these names for the one God. He declared that his affection is not of these personal Gods.

The Lord of Kabir is immutable, permanent and perfect. That which is permanent and changeless is true and that which is born and dies is false. The Supreme Being cannot be described in human language. He has no limits and all human faculties including the mind have limitations. The mind gets its knowledge from the senses, how then can a human being describe Him or His nature. Imagination cannot fully comprehend The Divine, and the little one may know of Him cannot be described. All philosophies are incomplete attempts made to realize God through analysis, intellectual understanding and human deductions.

peaking on incarnation, Kabir says that one who is born to a human father through a human mother cannot be perfect, anything of this world is imperfect. The one beyond is He who neither begets nor is he begotten, He neither has a father nor a mother, he neither comes nor departs..

This point between the eyebrows has been described by saints with different names, it is widely called the third eye, the divine eye, the dark mole by some muslim adepts, in the Adi grants as ‘ the door of the home’, the tenth door’, ‘the road home’, ‘the gateway of liberation’.The human body made of the five elements has nine doors to it, but it is within the tenth door that the Lord lives. The eye center, is the point from where the soul has descended and diverged into the nine portals of the body. This is the point where the soul must converge to start it’s journey home. This starting point is a narrow and fine one. Jesussaid “ enter in at the straight gate ..straight is the gate and narrow is the path which leads to life and it is but a few who find it”. Kabir has described this center as the narrow door to salvation a tenth of a mustard seed.

According to Kabir, soul, the wife is involved in the nine houses of the external world and therefore cannot reach her Husband’s abode, which is the tenth house within. When one enters here one enters a world of light and spiritual beauty.

As Christ says “when thine eye be single, thy whole body is filled with light”.
I invite you, come, celebrate the mystery! Come,
nourish the life you were born to live; and step into
the magnificent love affair with life!" – ronda

Ronda LaRue, M.S., has an unusually diverse and rich background blending science, art, psychology and the sacred into a deeply transformational playground of inquiry, healing empowerment and celebration of who you really are!

An avid student of eastern philosophy, western religion, earth gnosis, modern physics, and transpersonal psychology, Ronda's work is devotional toward the sacred inner knowing that is the ground of all being, and who you really are.

Academic Degrees:
Ronda LaRue has a Master of Science degree in Applied Social Psychology (Research and Evaluation Methods) from Texas Christian University, with an emphasis in social psychology and human/social behavior.

Her Bachelor degree from the University of Texas, Dallas, is a three-way degree in sociology, psychology and business.

Ronda has been a business consultant for organizations nation-wide since 1986 (founder and president of InfoVision Systems) and a spiritual teacher, facilitator and guide of living inquiry, healing insight, and living mystical artistry for over 15 years.

Philosophic/Religious Orientation and Influential Mentors:
Ronda’s orientation is influenced by her life-long introspection and wide repertoire of investigation and learning. Ronda was brought up in an spiritual home where Christianity was seen from the larger perspective of inner responsibility of following the "Christ-like" path toward realization that extends beyond any religious dogma or denomination.

Fascinated early on with the questions of why we are here, what really matters, and how to know truth, Ronda became a life-long student of western and eastern religion and philosophy, psychology, social systems, and physics. Her work today is non-denominational, devotional, and openly respectful toward the sacred fullness that is already who you really are before and beyond any system of belief or superimposed religious structure.

Over the years, Ronda has studied a wide repertoire of sacred, scientific and mystical understandings. In particular, Ronda has been profoundly influenced by the works of: Richard Moss with whom she studied for 4 years (energetic & integrated transpersonal psychology); Stephen Aizenstat (dream tending and archetypal systems of symbol and imaginal intelligence); J Krishnamurti (beyond the limits of mind); Michael Harner (shamanic attunement and practice); Jack Zimmerman (relational shamanism and energetic transmission); Brugh Joy and Carl Jung (shadow and archetype integration of self); Gurdjieff (freeing repetitive blocks and conditioning); William Rand (Reiki master and Kahuna healing arts training); Deepak Chopra (cosmic potentiality/spiritual laws); John Welwood and Ken Wilber (integrated cosmology of eastern and western understanding); Hafiz (impassioned poet/mytic/seer); Leonard Cohen (one "darned sexy and soulful poet/songwriter!")

Ronda brings to these significant orientations, the added qualities of dynamic attunement to one's unique creative power through the art of seeded inquiry. Ronda's work has become deeply transformational with a focus on full Self-Realization, embodied realization and freedom of Being.

LIFE WORK: Ronda LaRue considers herself very much, "an inner/outer bridge" in that she has walked the delicate line of being well "in"(volved in) and yet not "of" (caught up by) the world. She has managed to maintain a deeply mystical and poetic approach to life while having been a respected and successful (and self proclaimed "type A") business entrepreneur for more than 24 years (InfoVision Systems) as well as a recognized visual artist and poet with several of her works in private collections both nationally and abroad. (Explore this web site for more.)

Ronda says that she can very align with her client and relate to her/his worldly issues and linear mental blocks because she has been there too... In fact, because she has made consciousness her life long inner study coinciding real work in the real world, Ronda is able to "re-enter" this space of worldly and egoic perception with her client, and from there point to the way "out' to a much richer inner landscape of wisdom and soulful artistry.

Ronda feels most blessed by the passion she feels for seeing others find and free their soulful nature to living as true artists of life. According to Ronda, reclaiming the artistry of living Presence is precisely what the ancient sages as well as today's contemporary seers point toward when they talk about: "becoming enlightened", "entering the Kingdom of Heaven", realizing "The Power of Now", "ending the search", Loving What Is"... In short, Remembering Who You Really Are.

HER PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

About 4 years ago I was in one of those deeply contemplative states where I was searching, yearning for some greater understanding of life. This led me to ask what I call the "Awakening Questions":

"What is the purpose of life? Why am I here? What is my calling?"

And when I asked these questions from the very depth of my being, what I heard bounce back was this: "I want to know Truth. I see no reason to live other than in service to the spiritual journey."

As the saying goes "Be careful what you ask for". Two months later "all hell broke lose!"

What was happening during this time of seeming chaos, loss, and dis-ease was actually a profound dissolution of over-self-identification with the ego-Ronda and a slowly seeping in ability to hear and attune to the musical language of Love that is forever our inheritance, authority and wholeness.

I’ve been an avid reader of sacred texts, new thought metaphysics, psychology and physics for years. But none of that prepared me for my own undoing and the great mythic journey that is required when we heed the call of reclaiming Soul as the seat of our life’s authority and highest purpose. What I hope and see that this book can do for others is to shine night light on the invitation that is being presented through our challenging life circumstances and struggles - and the inevitable times of darkness and decent into the realms of death that purges old patterns and foreshadows our eventual realization and stepping more firmly into an a priori and inextinguishable light – the light of our True Authentic Being.
J.Krishnamurti, Krishanmurti's Journal 04 April 1975

Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on 11 May 1895 in Madanapalle, a small town in south India. He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then president of the Theosophical Society. Dr Besant and others proclaimed that Krishnamurti was to be a world teacher whose coming the Theosophists had predicted. To prepare the world for this coming, a world-wide organization called the Order of the Star in the East was formed and the young Krishnamurti was made its head.

In 1929, however, Krishnamurti renounced the role that he was expected to play, dissolved the Order with its huge following, and returned all the money and property that had been donated for this work.

From then, for nearly sixty years until his death on 17 February 1986, he travelled throughout the world talking to large audiences and to individuals about the need for a radical change in mankind.

Krishnamurti is regarded globally as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. He did not expound any philosophy or religion, but rather talked of the things that concern all of us in our everyday lives, of the problems of living in modern society with its violence and corruption, of the individual's search for security and happiness, and the need for mankind to free itself from inner burdens of fear, anger, hurt, and sorrow. He explained with great precision the subtle workings of the human mind, and pointed to the need for bringing to our daily life a deeply meditative and spiritual quality.

Krishnamurti belonged to no religious organization, sect or country, nor did he subscribe to any school of political or ideological thought. On the contrary, he maintained that these are the very factors that divide human beings and bring about conflict and war. He reminded his listeners again and again that we are all human beings first and not Hindus, Muslims or Christians, that we are like the rest of humanity and are not different from one another. He asked that we tread lightly on this earth without destroying ourselves or the environment. He communicated to his listeners a deep sense of respect for nature. His teachings transcend man-made belief systems, nationalistic sentiment and sectarianism. At the same time, they give new meaning and direction to mankind's search for truth. His teaching, besides being relevant to the modern age, is timeless and universal.

Krishnamurti spoke not as a guru but as a friend, and his talks and discussions are based not on tradition-based knowledge but on his own insights into the human mind and his vision of the sacred, so he always communicates a sense of freshness and directness although the essence of his message remained unchanged over the years.

When he addressed large audiences, people felt that Krishnamurti was talking to each of them personally, addressing his or her particular problem. In his private interviews, he was a compassionate teacher, listening attentively to the man or woman who came to him in sorrow, and encouraging them to heal themselves through their own understanding. Religious scholars found that his words threw new light on traditional concepts. Krishnamurti took on the challenge of modern scientists and psychologists and went with them step by step, discussed their theories and sometimes enabled them to discern the limitations of those theories.

Krishnamurti left a large body of literature in the form of public talks, writings, discussions with teachers and students, with scientists and religious figures, conversations with individuals, television and radio interviews, and letters. Many of these have been published as books, and audio and video recordings.

Krishnamurti's aim was to set humanity free. He maintained that the individual is freed by becoming aware of their own psychological conditioning, and that this awakening will enable them to give love to another.

Question : What about diet?

Ramana Maharshi : Food affects the mind. For the practice of any kind of yoga, vegetarianism is absolutely necessary since it makes the mind more sattvic [pure and harmonious].

Question : Could one receive spiritual illumination while eating flesh foods?

Ramana Maharshi : Yes, but abandon them gradually and accustom yourself to sattvic foods. However, once you have attained illumination it will make less difference what you eat, as, on a great fire, it is immaterial what fuel is added.

Question : We Europeans are accustomed to a particular diet and a change of diet affects the health and weakens the mind. Is it not necessary to keep up one's physical health?

Question : In the absence of our usual diet our health suffers and the mind loses strength.
Ramana Maharshi : Habit is only adjustment to the environment. One day Goddess Parvati was at home on Mt.Kailash preparing for a bath. As she didn’t want to be disturbed, she told Nandi, her husband Shiva’s Bull, to guard the door and let no one pass. Nandi faithfully took his post, intending to carry out Parvati’s wishes. But, when Shiva came home and naturally wanted to come inside, Nandi had to let him pass, being loyal first to Shiva. Parvati was angry at this slight, but even more than this, at the fact that she had no one as loyal to Herself as Nandi was to Shiva. So, taking the turmeric paste (for bathing) from her body and breathing life into it, she created Ganesha, declaring him to be her own loyal son.

The next time Parvati wished to bathe, she posted Ganesha on guard duty at the door. In due course, Shiva came home, only to find this strange boy telling him he couldn’t enter his own house! Furious, Shiva ordered his army to destroy the boy, but they all failed! Such power did Ganesha possess, being the son of Devi Herself!

This surprised Shiva. Seeing that this was no ordinary boy, the usually peaceful Shiva decided he would have to fight him, and in his divine fury severed Ganesha’s head, killing him instantly. When Parvati learned of this, she was so enraged and insulted that she decided to destroy the entire Creation! Lord Brahma, being the Creator, naturally had his issues with this, and pleaded that she reconsider her drastic plan. She said she would, but only if two conditions were met: one, that Ganesha be brought back to life, and two, that he be forever worshipped before all the other gods.

Shiva, having cooled down by this time, and realizing his mistake, agreed to Parvati’s conditions. He sent Brahma out with orders to bring back the head of the first creature he crosses that is laying with its head facing North. Brahma soon returned with the head of a strong and powerful elephant, which Shiva placed onto Ganesha’s body. Breathing new life into him, he declared Ganesha to be his own son as well, and gave him the status of being foremost among the gods, and leader of all the ganas (classes of beings), Ganapati.

Meaning of the story of Ganesh

At first glance, this story just seems like a nice tale that we might tell our children, or a myth without any real substance. But, it’s true mystical meaning is veiled. It is explained thus:

Parvati is a form of Devi, the Parashakti (Supreme Energy). In the human body She resides in the Muladhara chakra as the Kundalini shakti. It is said that when we purify ourselves, ridding ourselves of the impurities that bind us, then the Lord automatically comes. This is why Shiva, the Supreme Lord, came unannounced as Parvati was bathing.

Nandi, Shiva’s bull, who Parvati first sent to guard the door represents the divine temperment. Nandi is so devoted to Shiva that his every thought is directed to Him, and he is able to easily recognize the Lord when He arrives. This shows that the attitude of the spiritual aspirant is what gains access to Devi’s (the kundalini shakti’s) abode. One must first develop this attitude of the devotee before hoping to become qualified for the highest treasure of spiritual attainment, which Devi alone grants.

After Nandi permitted Shiva to enter, Parvati took the turmeric paste from Her own body, and with it created Ganesha.. Yellow is the color associated with the Muladhara chakra, where the kundalini resides, and Ganesha is the deity who guards this chakra. Devi needed to create Ganesha, who represents the earthbound awareness, as a shield to protect the divine secret from unripe minds. It is when this awareness begins to turn away from things of the world, and toward the Divine, as Nandi had, that the great secret is revealed.

Shiva is the Lord and Supreme Teacher. Ganesha here represents the ego-bound Jiva. When the Lord comes, the Jiva, surrounded as it is with the murky cloud of ego, usually doesn’t recognize Him, and maybe even ends up arguing or fighting with Him! Therefore, it is the duty of the Lord, in the form of the Guru, to cut off the head of our ego! So powerful is this ego however, that at first the Guru’s instructions may not work, as Shiva’s armies failed to subdue Ganesha. It often requires a tougher approach, but, eventually the compassionate Guru, in His wisdom finds a way.

Devi threatened to destroy the whole Creation after learning of Ganesha’s demise. This indicates that when the ego thus dies, the liberated Jiva loses interest in its temporary physical vehicle, the body, and begins to merge into the Supreme. The physical world is here represented by Devi. This impermanent and changeable creation is a form of Devi, to which this body belongs; the unchanging Absolute is Shiva, to which belongs the Soul. When the ego dies, the external world, which depends on the ego for its existence, disappears along with it. It is said that if we want to know the secrets of this world, which is a manifestation of Devi, then we must first receive the blessings of Ganesha.

Shiva restoring life to Ganesha, and replacing his head with an elephant’s, means that before we can leave the body, the Lord first replaces our small ego with a “big”, or universal ego. This doesn’t mean that we become more egoistic. On the contrary, we no longer identify with the limited individual self, but rather with the large universal Self. In this way, our life is renewed, becoming one that can truly benefit Creation. It is however only a functional ego, like the one Krishna and Buddha kept. It is like a thin string tying the liberated Consciousness to our world, solely for our benefit.

Ganesha is given dominion over the Ganas, which is a general term denoting all classes of beings, ranging from insects, animals and humans to the subtle and celestial beings. These various beings all contribute to the government of the Creation; everything from natural forces like storms and earthquakes, to the elemental qualities like fire and water, to functioning of the body’s organs and processes. If we don’t honor the Ganas, then our every action is a form of thievery, as it is unsanctioned. Therefore, instead of propitiating each Gana in order to receive their blessings, we bow to their Lord, Sri Ganesha. By receiving His grace, we receive the grace of all. He removes any potential obstacles and enables our endeavors to succeed.

Other names for Lord Ganesha

Like other Hindu gods and goddesses, Ganesh has many other titles of respect or symbolic names, and is often worshipped through the chanting of sahasranam (pronounced saa-HUS-ruh-naam), or a thousand names. Each is different and conveys a different meaning, representing a different aspect of the god in question. Needless to say, almost all Hindu gods have one or two accepted versions of their own sahasranaam liturgy.
Lord Ganesha is also known by other names:
Aumkara, the Aum-shaped body
Ganapati, Lord of the Ganas, a race of dwarf beings in the army of Shiva
His family surname was Li, his first name was Er, his nickname was Dan.

Lao Tzu is believed to have been a Chinese philosopher (a person who seeks to answer questions about humans and their place in the universe) and the accepted author of the Tao te ching, the main text of Taoist thought. He is considered the father of Chinese Taoism (a philosophy that advocates living a simple life).

The main source of information on Lao Tzu's life is a biography written by the historian Ssu-ma Ch'ien (145–86 B.C.E. ) in his Records of the Historian. By this time a number of traditions or beliefs about the founder of Chinese

Taoism were going around, and Ssu-ma Ch'ien himself was unsure of their authenticity. The biography in fact contains an account of not one but three men called Lao Tzu.
The first Lao Tzu was a man named Li Erh or Li Tan, who came from the village of Ch'üjen in the southern Chinese state of Ch'u. Li Erh served as historian in charge of the official records in the Chinese imperial capital of Loyang. He was a peer of the famous Chinese philosopher Confucius (551–479 B.C.E. ), and he is reported to have given an interview to Confucius when he came to Loyang seeking information on the Chou ritual.

Another man identified as the founder of Taoism was Lao Lai Tzu, who also came from Ch'u. He is said to be a person of the same age as Confucius and is credited with a fifteen-chapter book explaining the teachings of the Taoist school. Nothing more is known about the second Lao Tzu.

According to a third account, the original Lao Tzu lived 129 years after the death of Confucius. This man went by the name of Tan, the historian of Chou. Actually, it is impossible to prove the historical accuracy of any of these accounts. Lao Tzu is not really a person's name and is only a complimentary name meaning "old man." It was common in this period to refer to respected philosophers and teachers with words meaning "old" or "mature." It is possible that a man who assumed the pseudonym (assumed name) Lao Tzu was a historical person, but the term Lao Tzu also was used as a substitute title to the supreme Taoist classic, Tao te ching (Classic of the Way and the Power).

According to Ssu-ma Ch'ien, Lao Tzu had been serving in the Chou capital for a long time. He became unhappy with the dishonest political situation and decided to go into retirement. As he was passing through the Hanku Pass west of Loyang, the gate-keeper stopped him and asked him to write down a book of his teachings. Lao Tzu then composed a book of five thousand sayings in two sections that described the theory of the tao and te. This book was then known as the Tao te ching.

Lao Tzu is frequently associated with the other famous early Chinese thinker, Confucius. There are numerous stories about debates that supposedly took place between these two great philosophers in which Lao Tzu was always the winner. These stories are undoubtedly anti-Confucian publicity circulated by members of the Taoist school, perhaps as early as the fourth century B.C.E.
Sylvia is well known for her dynamic, genuine, down-to-earth style and personality.

She lectures, teaches, and counsels people from all over the world including Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Sylvia manifested her psychic ability at the age of three, in her home town of Kansas City, MO. For many years she shared her gift with friends and family, and became very well known for helping people to see their future.

Moving to California in 1964, she continued assisting people privately. Sylvia then wanted to make a professional, legally sanctioned, organization to further her research into the paranormal. This goal was realized in 1974 when Sylvia incorporated The Nirvana Foundation for Psychic Research, a nonprofit organization (now known as Sylvia Browne Corporation). Since then, Sylvia has helped thousands of people gain control of their lives, live more happily, understand the meaning of life, and to find God in their own unique way.

Sylvia's philosophy of life is based upon research into past lives, via hypnosis, and through the information obtained via Sylvia's deep trance channeling ability. From thousands of hypnotic regressions, and hundreds of trance sessions, the fact of reincarnation was established as the key to understanding life. Sylvia accepts reincarnation as a central theme in her philosophy, yet this belief is never forced upon anyone who does not want to hear it. Sylvia always says, "Take with you what you want and leave the rest behind." She is also strongly pro God, but again does not force the issue. Sylvia likes to tell people, "It does not matter if you believe in God, because God believes in you."
Lessons for Life: How to Find the Right Relationship
There's nothing wrong with searching for a soul mate-in fact, it's very natural. Since the beginning of time, whether we believe in Adam and Eve or cavepeople, we've always lived in groups and paired off together perhaps largely for protection.

We all start out with some type of vision in our minds of what we think we want in a partner. This is what I like to call the "look, see, and love" or "lust" stage, when our hormones are in high gear probably due to the fact that not so long ago, people had to get married and have children early because their life spans were much shorter. While it's no longer the case that we need to pair off at such a young age, our genetic wiring just hasn't caught up to our current time frame yet.

It's a shame that we don't learn this earlier, but the older we get, the more that companionship, trust and communication take precedence over chemistry. Usually, a man or a woman at 21 is looking for something different from what a 60-year-old is. I'm not discouraging physical attraction; of course it's necessary, too, but for a lasting relationship, we should also try to engage our intellect.

Too often, we search for our "other half," not realizing that we have to be whole on our own, rather than waiting around for someone else to complete us. If we depend on other people to make us happy, we're definitely doomed for failure. In the same vein, there are many valid reasons to want a mate, but we must be careful not to neglect all the other marvelous relationships that we can have while we're here on Earth. From family to precious friends to animals, my life is filled with wonderful friendships that I'd never trade in just to say I had someone as my lover.

That being said, what should you be looking for in a relationship? Well, the good has to outweigh all other aspects and this may surprise you, but the spirituality and beliefs of both partners is really key. Without that shared bond, there's nowhere to go and nothing to fall back on when life gives you the proverbial lemons.

Begin by exploring who you are first and then you'll have a clearer picture of what you need, as well as what you have to offer. For instance, if you're positive and upbeat, then someone who's cranky, jaded, despondent will work against you. There are certain places you can go to meet people that are better than others. For example, churches are a good spot to make contact, as are libraries and even grocery stores. Seminars are great as well, because you'll most likely meet someone with common interests.

I know that people say the Internet can be an easy way to get a date, but I think it's too dangerous. Not to mention that 90 percent of the time it's like trying to find love in a bar-a highly unlikely scenario, to say the least. Some dating services can be good as they put new members through a fairly thorough screening process, which is better than just running into someone in a seedy cocktail lounge.

You can't expect to find love if you lock yourself in a closet, but you also don't have to frantically search for a date everywhere you go or join every possible singles organization that's available. Energy attracts energy, and desperate energy will put anyone off. And when you meet someone, for heaven's sake, don't give them the litany of how you've been rejected and hurt or almost as bad, how many boyfriends or girlfriends you've notched on your belt. Honesty may be the best policy, but who wants to hear a long, drawn-out sob story, or a rundown of your past conquests?

Ultimately, the best way to find a partner is to stop looking so hard. If you just let go and let God handle everything, you'll meet someone when the time is right. Besides, let's say the worst-case scenario happens and you don't find anyone (which, by the way, I've rarely seen, but let's say it's destined)-do you spend the rest of your life in a state of despair and dejection? What a waste!

Why not use that energy to form other relationships or work for society? You could help children and animals, spend more time with your friends and family, and make yourself the type of person whom others want to be around. Let's face it: A weeping, needy, dependent sap isn't even someone you'd want to invite to a party, let alone hang around with one-on-one. Be in love with yourself, find your passion in caring for and helping others, and I guarantee that love will find you.
Guruji Krishnananda

Guruji Krishnananda (1939) met his Guru, Maharshi Amara (1919-1982), in 1977 and his life took a new turn. His Guru had established contact with the Sapta Rishis, the Hierarchy, and other Rishis when he was very young. He used to travel astrally to other earths and meet the Rishis and Devas there. He brought down rare Spiritual Knowledge and the whole Science of Meditation.

For five years, Guruji learnt Meditation, Astral travel and other techniques from his Guru and after his passing away, founded Manasa Foundation to continue the work of his Guru, teaching Meditation and disseminating rare Spiritual Knowledge. He developed Dhyana Yoga.

In 2006, he established the Study Centre to study rare Spiritual realities with the help of Intuition. In 2009, he began the Light Channels World Movement helping people channeling Light daily for seven minutes to spread Love and Peace. Lakhs of school children have channeled Light and have benefitted in their studies and lives.

Guruji lives in Taponagara, 20 Kms away from Bangalore city, in India and conducts weekly Meditation classes. He has authored several Spiritual books. His “Doorways to Light” is considered a very important book for understanding the New Age.

Guruji works as a channel to the Sapta Rishis.

The Path

The Path established by Guruji is known as The Path of the Rishis. Meditation and Positivisation of thoughts and emotions are the basic approaches here. The Path defines Spirituality as being good and honest. Spirituality is different from religion.

We have come down as souls to this planet to experience life here. Experiencing life fully and then going back to our Source is the Purpose of life.

Meditators are encouraged to establish direct links with the Rishis in the higher planes. They are taught the New Age realities and are guided to go through the transitional processes of entering into the New Age and the effects of events occurring at the end of 2012.

Ideology

Guruji asserts that we are here to experience the human life and all its diversity. We have to manifest the Life Force and celebrate Life. We must manifest Love, Peace and Truth. That is true Spirituality. We have to realize the uselessness of the meaningless rituals imposed by the humans and become aware of the distortions in the Knowledge we inherit.

We have to realize that the Rishis of Puranas do exist at a different level. We have to establish contact to receive the undistorted Knowledge and guidance to sail through the difficult period of Pralaya.

God is a Reality. He is Light. He is Intelligence. He can be experienced in Meditations. The forms are his manifestations. The best way of worship is through Meditations.

This world is imperfect. But this is our world. We have to love this world. We are all one. We have to share our accomplishments and Karmas.

We have to work for the Peace and Welfare of our world.

All religions speak of the same Truth. We have to go beyond religion to realize and experience the Oneness of humanity.

Our thoughts and emotions impact nature and all life on earth. Every being and non-being has intelligence and feelings. We must expand our Awareness to understand and interact with all Life.

We are not alone. There are many in other earths waiting to help us to pass through the difficult times of Transition and 2012 effects.

We need not reincarnate after clearing our Karmas. But we can choose to come down and work for the Rishis who have been working for the welfare of all Life here from ages.

(Compiled by Shoba K Rao)
The communication then either ends or gets distorted.

Whenever we meditate in an energy field, the Core and the Field get strengthened. The deity of the Field takes care of all our material and Spiritual needs. If many people sit and mass meditate for a long time in a place they can create an energy field in that area.

In the present times, Spiritual guides can guide people only when they are aware of the new laws, new ways, the new information about 2012 etc.

Unless we know the answers to certain questions like: Who are we? Where do we come from? etc., we will be taking the wrong routes or we may never begin our Spiritual journey. When we begin the journey we have to go beyond, to experience and manifest the experience.

Do the Rishis exist? Unless you know the answers to such questions, and you are convinced, you can't talk to others about these things.

We struggle in Sadhana if the Spiritual condition of the world around us is not good, or if there are disturbances around us, as we are linked together. In spite of that we have to meditate and channel Light to bring relief not only to ourselves but also to others. It's a part of Sadhana. Periodically we have to introspect and pull ourselves up.

Judging people and developing strong feelings holds us back and takes us down. Locate the good points in people and establish relations from there to the Soul-level.

From 21st December 2009 lot of powers from the dark forces will be taken away, making transformation easier for every one. There will be new choices and challenges.

Intense healing of the earth begins. Hereafter whenever you practise Pranayama inhale blue light, hold the breath, and exhale blue light.

Henceforth, whenever we make a very genuine effort we will be rewarded, and whenever we consciously deviate or commit a mistake we will be punished.

The presence of a Meditator in a bus averted a serious accident. That is the power of Meditation! Sometimes people grumble that they are not making progress.

People in the beginning stages are expected to be patient. Before asking questions, they have to study, listen, read, understand and meditate for some time. People who join us get the shield after meditating for three months in the Chakra activation Stage. This is meant for protection from dark forces. We have to trust the Rishis and move on.
Spiritual aids really do not improve the quality of Meditation, as meditation occurs at a deeper level.

Bhagwan SriKrishna had given a promise that he would take rebirth (reappear) when there would be religious-darkness. He also promised that he would again lay the foundation of Dharma through Karma, Knowledge, Upasana and Vedas.

As if, to fulfill this promise, a boy named Narayana was born on Chaitra-Shuddha 9 Shake 1530 that is in 1608 AD.

It was an auspicious day of Ramnavmi. Suryajipant and Ranubai were his parents. They were living in the village Jamb. His parents were the sincere worshipers of ‘Surya’ and ‘Rama’. Narayana always told his parents that he was deeply engaged in thinking of the welfare of the whole world. He expressed his desire to obtain his elder brother Gangadgar’s blessings. Gangadhar tried to convince him that Narayana was still very young to bear the ‘Anugraha’ but this made Narayana very unhappy.
At last unhappy Narayana went to temple ‘Maruti’ where, in the midnight he could see the God, real God. Narayana insisted upon the ‘Anugraha’. At the same time he could see “ Prabhu Ramachandra ” who blessed him and named him as “ Ramadas “ and advised him to lay the foundation of Dharma.
Narayan’s father, Suryajipant, was no more and his mother often asked him to get married immediately. She also asked him not to say no till the Antarpat was held. Narayana accepted his mother’s suggestion. He obeyed her and placed himself on the marriage vedi. But when the holy rhymes were sung and as soon as he heard the word ‘Sawadhan’, thinking that he had fulfilled the promise given to his mother he ran away from the place. He was just 12 years old at this time. It was not an easy and ordinary thing to dedicate one’s own life for the betterment and welfare of the world.

Ran-off from his native place, Narayana came straight to ‘Panchwati at Nasik’. He visited Lord Rama’s temple there and reached ‘Takali’, where he lived from 1620 to 1632. Here he spent his life in ‘Gayatri - Purashcharan’ and completed 13 cores Ramnama recital.
During the 12 years he spent all his time in meditation. He went from house to house and asked ‘Madhukari’ for his meals. Along with meditation he did exercises ‘Suryanamaskar’. He could see the God Rama and Marutiraya with his own eyes. He was advised to undertake the work of welfare of the world by doing Upasana and establishing Dharma. He started his valuable work of Dharmodhar, Janodhar and Rashtrodhar from this time.
As per God Rama’s advice he travelled through the whole India from 1632 to 1644.

While travailing , he came into contact with different people of different caste and creed. He could learn exact about the public and social conditions. At that time the rulers were very cruel and unjust, who tried to demolish and destroyed Hindu-temples. The ignorant and poor Hindu ladies were raped and misused and spoiled. There was nothing but darkness. People had to face all such cruelty helplessly.
They were so poor and weak that they were quite unable to raise their heads and hands to protest it. Sri Samartha had closely observed it and decided to increase their physical power by way of unity and also the importance of trust on Prabhu-Ramchandra.He tried his best to enlighten their lives.

While bringing these reforms he asked people that God is part and parcel of their lives.
He visited hundreds of holy places like Kashi, Gokul, Mathura, Vrindavan, Dwarka, Shrijagnnath, Shrirameshwar, Lanka Gokarn-Mahableshwar, Karveer, Dakshin-Kashi, Shri-Parashuram etc.

During his journey he setup nearly 1100 Maruti-temples.These are the centers where peoples comes together .He also appointed his devotees to look after these temples. This planning clears his foresight. Through Ramopasana and balopasana he wanted to build well-cultured and healthy society. It was his real dream.
After visiting various holy places he returned to his native place Jamb in the year 1644. He had an emotional meeting with his mother and brother. Then he again returned to Krishna valley.
At this time Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had started establishing his political power. He came to Masur but his camp was always in Dervan-valley, Waghapur-sada, Bhairavgad or valley of Kalamba.

Among all his Maruti idols, idols at Chaphal Shahapur, Masur Umbraj, Shirala, Pargaon, Majgaon, Bahe-Borgaon and Manpadale are very important. He also stared celebrating Ramnavami Festival at Masur. At the same time Prabhu-Rama gave him drishtant. Samartha found Rama’s and Mahishasur mardini’s idols in the deep pond of Angapur. He set up God Rama’s idol at Chaphal Samartha was bringing religious and national awareness while Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was trying to establish Hindu-swaraj.

Now fame of Samarth reached far and wide.Shivaji Maharaj was very keen to meet him. But unfortunately he could not see him at Masur. So he went back to Pratapgad. One day Shivaji Maharaja saw Samarth’s divine appearance in the night. When Shivaji Maharaja woke up in the morning he found a coconut which was given to him by Samartha as a token of blessings. So King Shivaji came to Mahuli to see Samartha . At the same time a disciple came from Samartha with a letter for King Shivaji.

Samarth had praised Shivaji Maharaj in this letter. King Shivaji in his reply letter expressed his strong desire to see Samarth. King Shivaji presented himself at Masur. When he heard that Samartha was at Shinganwadi, he went there. Here met the two great personalities of different fields, different aims and of different dreams, in 1649. This was their first meeting. Here Samartha gave him ‘Anugraha’. Here onwards their relations became closer, loving and respectful.
King Shivaji Maharaj requested Samartha to live at Rajgad, Pratapgad or on the fort of Parali. As per King King Shivaji’s request Samarth Ramdas came to Parali in 1676. From that time onwards the fort was recognized and known as ‘Sajjangad’.
Samartha set up the idol of goddess Mahishasurmardini at the eastern side of the Sajjangad which was found in the pond at Angapur and was named ‘Angai’ or ‘Anglai’. He also set up the idol of Maruti at the west to protect the Sajjangad and this ‘Maruti’ is known as ‘Dhabyacha Maruti’. While he was living on Sajjangad, Chatrapti Shivaji Maharaj left this world for ever. He left this world in 1680. Samartha became very sad. When he had gone to Tanjawar, he had in his mind to set up the idols of Shriram, Laxman and Seeta and Maruti there.
Sri Samartha asked Vyankoji Raje to find out a good artist. Vyankoji Raje found an artist who was blind. But Samartha took from him the idols. Magh Vadya 5, Shake 1603 that is in the year 1682 (English Year), the images were brought and were set up in his bed-room (Shejghar) and he himself worshipped them.
Samartha has written books on Philosophy & religion: it is seldom compared to ocean. ‘Samartha wrote Manacheslok’ which became more famous . Ramdas also wrote ‘Dasbodha’ which is equally valuable as the ‘Manacheslok.Samarthas literature clears the darkness of spirutual aspirants and has been source of inspirations to thousands.

Dasbodha’ took birth in the Shivtharghal, which has complete base of religious mindedness of Sri Samarth Ramdas Swami. One can carry out his human duties through reading, thinking of Dasbodha.

This clears the very valuable importance of ‘Dasbodha’. It is very useful not only to saints learned but also to common people. It can enlighten not only to ‘Mumukshu’, ‘Sadhaka’ and ‘Siddha’ but also to very very common people. It is just like a lighthouse in ‘Parmarth’, to wise men and ignorant, for ‘Viveka and Vairagya’, happiness and worries’.

It touches religious and social life, political and common life. After the departure of Chatrapati King Shivaji Maharaja he felt that he had nothing left undone in his life. So he left this world on Magh 9, Shake 1603 that is in the year 1682 (English Year) on the Sajjangad.
Anandamayi Ma is a spiritual giant who rightfully takes Her place among the great saints of modern India,
such as >Ramakrishna, >Vivekananda, Aurobindo Ghose,> Ramana Maharshi and >Paramahansa Yogananda.
Her life is an eloquent testimony to the abiding strength of Indian spintuality. Her message is particularly appropriate in a world where the notion of progress is no longer taken for gospel truth and the whole array of our “modern values” is undergoing an agonizing reappraisal. Anandamayl Ma diagnoses the present disease of civilization as “over-secularization”. She suggests that the cure from our severe illness cannot be brought about by engineers, sociologists or psychologists but by doctors of the soul. She prescribes a drastic revolution in our views and attitudes from outwardness to inwardness, from materialism to spirituality and from man-centeredness to God-centeredness.

Her totally uncompromising transcendent point of view is truly a shock therapy for problem-solving oriented, pragmatic Americans. She shows no apparent concern for the population explosion, environmental pollution, racism, political tensions, economic crises. And yet, as one of Her disciples expressed it, the purpose of Her being is “to demonstrate the existence of a Power that is ever at work creating by its transforming influence, Beauty out of ugliness, Love out of strife. Such a Power is Anandamayi. May She bring peace and harmony into this world of strife.”

I first got interested in Anandamayi Ma while reading about Her in >Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi. Subsequently, I met several Americans who had visited Anandamayi Ma for extended periods of time. In 1965, while spending my sabbatical leave in India, I visited Her ashram in Varãnasi and then stayed with Anandamayi Ma in Rajgir, the capital of an ancient Indian state. When I was brought into the presence of Anandamayi Ma I felt that, for the first time in my life, I was encountering someone who was the very embodiment of the Holy, the “wholly other.” And yet Anandamayi Ma was also so close and accessible. She immediately welcomed me with a loving smile signifying total acceptance. In Her simple, unaffected way She asked me about my family and with genuine interest looked at the photos of my wife and my three daughters. She then gave me the privilege of sitting near Her. During the ensuing satsaga I had an opportunity to observe Her at close quarters. I was struck by the youthful almost girlish appearance of the then sixty-nine year old Anandarnayi Ma. It was a delight to listen to Her pearly laughter, and I was struck by the ease and assurance with which the almost illiterate Anandamayl Ma responded to the most recondite questions of erudite scholars. A highlight of my stay with Anandamayi Ma was my personal interview during which I was alone with Her except for the presence of an interpreter. Facing Mãtãji I felt as though I was mentally stripped naked. It seemed to me that She could see into the innermost recesses of my mind. I asked Her to tell me what the chief obstacles on my spiritual path were. In response She revealed to me some glaring shortcomings of which I had been hitherto totally unaware. What She said was in no way flattering, in fact painful, but Anandamayl Ma said it so compassionately, although firmly, .that I did not feel condemned. I realized what true loving detachment was.

The days at Anandamayi Ma’s Ashram flew by. Throughout my stay I had a feeling of utter contentment and peace—worldly problems were temporarily eclipsed. As though in the presence of a gigantic spiritual magnet my mind was engrossed in the divine. When thinking of the blissful experiences in Rajgir, there flashes even now through my mind a scene of a kirtana with Matãji. And I hear Her chanting “He Bhagavan” (Oh, Lord) to the accompaniment of a harmonium. Her chanting is the very expression of divine love and ecstasy and prompts me to echo the words of the Persian inscription on the Diwani
Khas:
If on Earth be an Eden of bliss
it is this, it is this, none but this.
While I had a limited knowledge of Hindi at the time of my visit to Anandamayl Mit I decided then and there to take up the study of Bengali, to be able to become acquainted in depth with the life and teaching of Mãtãji. Through the kind assistance of Mr. K. Bose, Secretary of Shree Shree Anandamayee Sangha, I was able to procure most of the literature in Bengali and English dealing with Anandamayi Ma. The more I immersed myself in the life and thought of the bliss permeated Mother, the clearer it became to me that many people in the west could profit from Her wisdom. When I discussed Anandamayi Ma during my lectures on modern Hindu religious thought I was impressed by the enthusiastic response of the students who eagerly asked for more information about the bliss permeated Mother. This prompted me to undertake the present study. Writing on the life and teaching of Anandamayi Ma was a privilege in itself, but I am filled with gladness at the thought that through this study Mãtãji will become better known and that many spiritual seekers who have become aware of the emptiness of a mere materialistic existence will find renewed meaningfulness.
Energy is composed of molecules in vibration. In the physical realm we normally experience, molecules vibrate at a slow, but constant speed. This makes everything appear solid and dense. In the spiritual realm; however, James Van Praagh claims that these molecules vibrate at a much higher rate. Mr. Praagh states that he can feel these vibrations and energies around him as they shift and change. Praagh professes to be a medium with the gift of clairsentience, i.e., he can sense the presence of spirits that are nearby. He also claims to be able to communicate strong feelings and emotions from spirits to the sitter (victim). Praagh also claims to be clairvoyant, i.e., able to see things, events, and spirits which others can't see.

I've been watching The 700 Club lately, analyzing it, and I see Satan at work. I see them as borderline psychics, who exploit Christianity to make money and con people. On the show, Gordon Robertson and Terry Meeuwsen regularly join hands in a prayer segment, which is then followed by a psychic type reading, where they specify details of who is being healed in TV land. It's creepy! Are The 700 Club hosts, Pat Robertson, Gordon Robertson and Terry Meeuwsen, psychics? On a recent show, Gordon and Terry prayed while holding hands, and then claimed that the following healings had taken place as a result of their prayers on TV ...

Someone with an "abscessed right tooth," has just now been healed.

Someone with "twisted intestines" has just been healed.

Someone paralyzed on the right side, particularly the right side of the face, has just been healed.

A man with a plate in his skull is having continual problems, and the doctors just don't know what to do. Terry said she saw the bone reforming around the plate and the man's pain was gone, he was now healed.

These are the crazy and absurd claims of these so-called "Christians." As I listened to their bizarre claims, I wrote them down, as listed above. How can they claim to see such healings? Folks, this is CLAIRVOYANCE (i.e., Apparent power to perceive things that are not present to the senses), and is exactly what the Satanic psychics do!!! How in the world would Gordon Robertson and Terry Meeuwsen know who is being healed? How can you see someone's bone reforming inside their head? The Word of God never teaches any such demonic practice. I dare you to show me from the Bible, where God said he would give us some mystical power of being able to see or know what is going on in someone else's body. It is extremely dangerous to dabble in familiar spirits. The hosts of The 700 Club are leading the public to believe that they have some special power with God, the ability to see who is being healed. They do not! It is a psychological scam to seduce suffering people into giving The 700 Club more money. And it works! The Christians Broadcasting Network (CBN) took in $160,000,000 in 2005 alone!

Clairvoyance is of the Devil, whether it is being performed by James Van Praagh or The 700 Club. None of the Apostles in the Bible had such powers. Only God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. Nowhere in the Scriptures are we ever directed to seek or expect clairvoyant experiences. Clairvoyance is an occult practice, like astral projection or astrology. This is all New Age witchcraft, seeking spiritual power from sources other than God. Those who claim to have such powers in the name of God are liars. These are children of the Devil, Modernists who appear to be Christians, but are not. Remember, even Adolf Hitler claimed to be a Christian...
James Van Praagh quotes

"If you're on the path you're meant to be on, everything falls into place; the Universe is telling you that. If you are not on the right path, you will experience roadblocks all along the way, and this is also the Universe telling you to stop, look, and ask if this is where you are supposed to be."

"Love is never static, but always evolving. Love is simultaneously random and ordered, so intangible and yet a part of everything, and when we attempt to limit it or categorize it, we get into trouble."

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."

"And in the end, its not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
His very natural, easy-going style would lead you to believe that James Van Praagh is chatting with a friend on the telephone, not communicating messages from the grave. James is a survival evidence medium, meaning that he is able to bridge the gap between two planes of existence, that of the living and that of the dead, by providing evidential proof of life after death via detailed messages. "I'm clairsentient," he explains, "which simply means clear feeling. I feel the emotions and personalities of the deceased. I am also clairvoyant," he adds, clarifying that, "the first is feeling, the second is seeing, very much like Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, Ghost." The true essence of the messages are the feelings behind the words. James is an expert on this subject, since he has been in touch with those feelings most of his adult life. "The spirits communicate by their emotions. No words exist in the English language, or any other for that matter, which can describe the intense sensations." And His two best-selling books are Talking to Heaven (1997) and Reaching to Heaven (1999).

The popularity of his books combined with his celebrity clientele and appearances on Oprah, Larry King and other talk shows have made Van Praagh something of a minor celebrity himself. In 2002, CBS aired a miniseries based on his writings, "Living With the Dead," starring actor Ted Danson. A short-lived TV talk show, "Beyond With James Van Praagh," also debuted that year. In 2005, Van Praagh was Co-Executive Producer for the CBS primetime series "The Ghost Whisperer" starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Spiritual Masters Life And Teachings
Her beats included the White House, Capitol Hill and national and foreign affairs.

She covered the Berlin Airlift in 1948, interviewed Juan Peron shortly after he had assumed the presidency of Argentina, flew to Cuba to report the coup d'etat that brought dictator Fulgencio Batista to power and was on the scene to write about the anti-British riots that led to the downfall of King Farouk in Egypt.

She covered then-Vice President Richard Nixon's trip through the Soviet Union and Poland, national political conventions, and White House news conferences from Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt through Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1945, she was the only woman journalist covering Roosevelt's funeral at the White House. In 1950, she was president of the Women's National Press Club.

Her 1965 book, "A Gift of Prophecy," about Jeane Dixon, sold more than 3 million copies and helped to build Dixon's reputation as a soothsayer. For nine years before the book's publication, Mrs. Montgomery wrote an annual column describing upcoming world events that Dixon saw in her crystal ball.

Her book described Dixon's 1956 prediction of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and her statement to friends on the morning of Nov. 22, 1963, that "this is the day it will happen." The book also included Dixon's forecast a week ahead of time of the 1968 assassination of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy (D-N.Y.) at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.

But Mrs. Montgomery would later complain that the book's editors paid scant attention to her reservations about Dixon's clairvoyance. They "insisted on deleting most of my references to Jeane Dixon's many wrong predictions, leaving in mainly those on which she had hit correctly. . . I was too tired to put up a proper argument, but after 'A Gift of Prophecy' became one of the most sensational best-sellers of the decade, I wished that I had more firmly stood my ground," she wrote in a 1970 book, "Hail to the Chiefs," which was mainly an account of her 25 years of covering presidents and first ladies.

Dixon's mistakes, Mrs. Montgomery wrote, included a 1954 prediction that President Dwight D. Eisenhower would not run for a second term, a prediction that Nixon would be elected president in 1960 and that Fidel Castro would fall from power in Cuba that year. She also predicted that "Russia would be the first nation to land a man on the moon, probably in 1960."

Mrs. Montgomery came to the nation's capital in 1943 as the first woman member of the Washington bureau of the New York Daily News. In Washington, she was the first to write the story of Edgar Eisenhower's public criticisms of his younger brother, Dwight David, who was then president of the United States. She suggested in one of her columns that retirees could serve in the Peace Corps, and the idea was later adopted by President Kennedy.

After "The Gift of Prophecy," she wrote 10 books on psychic phenomena, the paranormal, occult and supernatural. These included "Here and Hereafter," "The World Before Us," "Companions Along the Way," "A World Beyond," "Strangers Among Us," "Threshold to Tomorrow" and "The World to Come."
